Few weeks encompass the term “School Pride” more than Homecoming and the last few years have been an amazing sight to see.  You may see some fun and interesting pictures and videos looking back through the blog, including our first human-chain in 2012.  This is certainly a fun week that begins for the students on Monday with their daily dress count (we dress up each day by class) in the morning, and a school-wide Pep-Rally at the end of the day.  I wanted to highlight the student events below:

Class Competitions

Our All-Sports Boosters, comprised of 27 members from all our sports programs including reps from Messalonskee Middle School, have taken a very active and supportive role with our Messalonskee Athletics program.  I urge you to take 2-3 opportunities to sign-up to volunteer to help them in the shack or one of their upcoming events.  Information on sign-ups can be found at:  and it is incredibly easy to sign-up to help!

The events for the week are:

JV Football game vs. Brunswick 3;30
Parade at 6:00 (ALUMNI – this is your chance!  We welcome MHS Alum to wear their red, white & blue and march along in the parade!)
Bonfire after the parade by the football field.
The Messalonskee All Sports Boosters will have the concession open starting at 5:00 by the football field.  If your athlete needs to eat in between practice & the parade they should be able to get something at the booth.
Boys Soccer vs. Oxford Hills Varsity 3:30 / 5:00 JV
Field Hockey vs. Bangor  Varsity 4:00 / JV 5:30
Girls Soccer vs. Mt. Ararat   Varsity 3:30 / JV 5:00
Varsity Football vs. Nokomis  7:00
Clubs & classes will have booths set up for selling items.
Homecoming Dance  MHS Gym  8:00 – 11:00
This is often the largest attended dance of the year with over 300 students attending.  Tickets will be on sale starting on Tuesday during lunches.  If your student has not turned in their  Emergency form, or has anything outstanding, like library fines, they will not be able to buy a ticket.  Tickets ARE NOT sold at the door!  Friday afternoon is the last time a ticket to the dance can be purchased.

We hope to see you out at Homecoming at all of our events!

Information on Hallway Decorations etc. (all family members are welcome to take part)

Parent team Decoration Locations:  The Boys & Girls soccer teams will use the rotunda area at the front entrance (right in front of the PAC)
The 4 classes, Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, are coming in to decorate their hallways on Friday evening (9/25) & Saturday during the day.  (Please bring whatever supplies you need with you & be sure to use washable window paint for any wall painting)
