MHS Excel’s at the UMO World Language Day

Last Friday MHS French and Spanish students went to the University of Maine to participate in the World Language Day.  Our Messalonskee students were competing with schools including: Hermon HS, Bangor HS, Brewer HS, John Bapst, FoxCroft Academy. Our students had a chance to meet students and practice in the target language the entire day.

(note: MHS French squad took top honors from Bangor HS, who was clearly the favorite as their name had been written in prior to the conclusion of the event!)

I am very proud of our students, they are level 3 in Spanish and French and did a fantastic job competing against level 4 and AP Spanish and French students from other schools in the categories of poetry recitation, skit conversation, food contest and the culture bowl.

Our MHS French students won a prize on the Culture bowl and Spanish students did an amazing job in the skit conversation.

Congratulations to all of our participants!

Spanish Teacher – Eunice Loredo

Note:  Thanks to the MELMAC College Aspirations Grant – this trip was fully funded by grant funds.
