All-Sports Boosters Looking for Middle School Parent Members

This fall the former boosters group disbanded and the new Messalonskee All-Sports Boosters wrote bylaws, received 501c3 status, and became official.  The group is holding their third meeting tonight and is working to better the lives of our student athletes K-12 for years to come.

Unlike the past, this boosters chose to be an inclusive 6-12 organization that focuses their efforts on short and long term goals including such lofty facilities projects as a new multi-purpose turf field and track.  The bylaws for the organization explain that this new boosters is comprised of representatives from every sports team (Girls and Boys) at MHS as well as six parent representatives from the Middle School (1 representing a girls and a boys teams from each season, for a total of six parent reps from MMS)

If you are parent of a student-athlete in grades 6-8 please consider putting your name forward to be part of the boosters.  Interested candidates should email both the Boosters President:  Rich McCarthy at Richard.mccarthy@maine.gov and AD Tommy Hill at thill@rsu18.org.  We hope you will consider putting your name forward to be a part of our All-Sports Boosters!

See below for details about eligibility and the role and responsibilities of team representative.

Eligibility

Must have a child or ward on the official roster of the sport he/she is representing.  (note: 1 male and 1 female rep for each MS Sports season, alternates are encouraged and may vote in the absence of the voting member).  Should the athlete be removed from or quit the team, the alternate team representative will become the team representative.

Role

The role of the team representative is to serve as liaison for the All Sports Boosters with the coaching staff and parents of team regarding support and business of the All Sports Boosters.
