Guest Post: Messalonskee Alumnae Come Together

This past Saturday, 31 Messalonskee athletes from the classes of 2008 to 2018, laced up for the first annual Cassidy Charette Memorial Alumni Soccer Game.

MHS Alum play for Cassidy
With the support of All Pro and Laura Benedict (owner of The Red Barn), Saturday’s game raised $900 for the Cassidy Charette Scholarship.

While the amount of money we raised is reason enough to consider this event a success, I think my favorite part was seeing the smiles on every person’s face, both players and fans alike.

It did not matter that the current team beat the alumnae 10-6 or that many of us were gasping for air 5 minutes into the game. Every touch of the ball brought smiles and laughter to everyone’s face; smiles that were a true testimony to the love and laughter that Cassidy has always and will always bring us.

We definitely plan on making this event a yearly occurrence and even hope to have the boys team join us next year in remembering our beautiful eagle. As past coach Mike Guarino reminded us, as we came together for one last huddle following the game, Messalonskee Soccer has been and always will be a family.

I am extremely proud to be a Messalonskee Eagle and look forward to lacing up again next year to honor Cassidy in the best way that we know how.

My name is Brittney Poulin and I graduated in 2004 from Messalonskee High School and I wanted to let whomever set this up know that any future games I know that myself and other 2004 graduates that played soccer would love to be involved. Please email me at brittneypoulin@gmail.com

This is a great idea by the way!!

    Thanks,
