The Empty Bowls Project
Friday, March 7, 2014
Adults – $10
Student/seniors – $7.50
The goal of this project is to raise money for the local food pantries in Oakland, Belgrade/Rome, and Sidney. The project also raises awareness about the issues of food scarcity in our own community.
My students have been busy crafting ceramics bowls. These are all made with food safe glazes. The supper will feature a wide variety of soups, a salad, bread, and desserts. People attending select a bowl from the many offered and the soup will be served in this bowl. Following the meal the diner takes the bowl home, a tangible reminder of the event and the need. We hope that you enjoy and use your bowl for years to come.
You can help:
- Come to the event
- Donate a soup. Show off your fabulous culinary skills. Put it in a crock pot (so that we may keep it warm). The crock pot should be labeled with your name somewhere. Perhaps a piece of tape at the bottom.
- Desserts such as a sheet cake, cookies or brownies
- Cash is always welcome too.
Food items (soups and desserts) should be delivered to MHS by 4:30 so that we may adequately set up. We’ll need your ladle as well
Every year people have wanted to know recipes. If you are willing to provide the recipe, we will distribute copies.
Make a full evening of it – the MHS players will present the play Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Show at 7pm. What could be better than dinner and a movie!
