MHS Has Moment of Silence

On Monday Messalonskee High School students and staff observed a moment of silence for those involved in the tragedy in Connecticut this past Friday.

The announcement read:

At this time we would like to take a moment of silence for those that lost their lives, and for those whose lives will be forever changed, as a result of the senseless violence in Connecticut this past Friday.    We urge everyone, especially during this Holiday season, to support those around you and in need, to reach out to your loved ones, and perhaps – with the little things especially – help make this world a better place.  We owe that to each other.

School counselors are available to meet with any students who have expressed a need to talk.  We have increased our presence in the hallways to ensure we are mindful of student needs and the Oakland Police Department has graciously gone to each of our schools to help and provide comfort as people come to grips with the events of last week.

If you have any questions or comments we urge you to contact the administration or guidance at your convenience.
