MHS Students and Community Come Together to Give Back!

Since coming to MHS in 2001 the annual food drive has held special importance for me,  not simply because it benefits so many needy people in our community, but because it is a charitable event organized and conducted primarily by students.  Once again this year’s effort was a tremendous success.  Although students were organizing the vent, adults in our school and community jumped in this year and helped make the event even bigger!  Many businesses and individuals helped the drive, from a $2000 monetary match by the McAvoy family to Central Maine Motors bringing in truckloads of food (literally!), MHS was busting at the seams with food.

Once again the Messalonskee High School Food Drive was a huge success!

Once again the Messalonskee High School Food Drive was a huge success!

In addition to the food drive, the community once again came together to serve meals on Thanksgiving day at MHS (over 1000!);  talk about setting an example for our young people to emulate!

Thank you to everyone who have helped show the importance of giving during these two amazing events.  There is no greater gift we can give our young people than the gift of a great example.  Our community has certainly done that!
